On the north coast of Mallorca, you will find the popular seaside resort of C’an Picafort. At an hour’s drive from the airport, you’ll encounter beautiful beaches and many tourists. You can easily discover the island’s north from this coastal town, but there is plenty of entertainment in C’an Picafort itself too. With these 11 tips, you will have a wonderful holiday in C’an Picafort or a packed day trip!
C’an Picafort: typical holiday resort
C’an Picafort in Mallorca is a typical holiday destination. Out of season (when I’m there), it’s a deserted holiday resort. If you’ve read my blogs before, you know that I’m not a big fan of these places. I don’t like those massive, dime-a-dozen beach towns. Of course, it doesn’t help that most shops and restaurants are closed, because I can imagine a lovely afternoon in C’an Picafort enjoying the beach and bars.
C’an Picafort is a perfect place for a sunny getaway, as you have everything you need within walking distance. Shops, restaurants, nightlife, beach… And there is also plenty to do in the former fishing village. You can easily spend a week here if you are looking for a lazy beach holiday, but you can also visit C’an Picafort for a day if you are exploring the island.
Tip 1 – Go to the beach in C’an Picafort
It’s a rather obvious tip, I know. But the beach of C’an Picafort is gorgeous. It is about 1.5 kilometers long and quite wide. It is full of loungers and umbrellas in the summer, and because the water is pretty calm here, families like to come here. In the high season, lifeguards are present so that you can enjoy a carefree beach day.
If you continue the beach all the way south, you will come to the Na Patana dog beach. The first part is still dog-free, but your dog is welcome in the next part. It is not the most beautiful stretch of beach in C’an Picafort, but you are in the middle of wild nature, with only a few people. It is not a beach to spend hours on, but you can take a nice walk in the area, with and without a dog.
Tip 2 – Stroll along the boulevard of C’an Picafort
Along the long beach of C’an Picafort is an equally long promenade. Endless shops and terraces to choose from. Order a sangria and some tapas and enjoy the view (and people-watching, of course). The place is nearly extinct in the fall and winter.
Tip 3 – Spot graffiti in C’an Picafort
Take a good look around you when you walk through C’an Picafort because you will find graffiti in a few places. Sometimes a small image, but also giant murals. Most are realistic depictions of beach goers painted on drab apartment complexes.
Tip 4 – Visit the market of C’an Picafort
Every Friday, there is a market in C’an Picafort, between 9 am and 2 pm. You will find a combination of food, clothing, and gifts. If you would like to visit just one market during your time in Mallorca, I recommend the market in Sineu. It’s on Wednesday.

Tip 5 – Shopping in C’an Picafort
There are more than enough souvenir shops in C’an Picafort. Fortunately, in the shopping street Passeig Colón you will also find charming boutiques and well-known shops such as Mango and Esprit.
Tip 6 – Racing on the kart track
Karting C’an Picafort is a bit outside of the center. Children from 6 years old are already allowed to race a lap on the track. They drive the track at 25 km/h, adults can go karting up to 90 km/h! At Karting C’an Picafort, there are even karts that you can ride in pairs.
Tip 7 – Images of Joan Bennàsar
The Mallorcan artist Joan Bennàsar has been allowed to place a few groups of statues along the beach and the promenade of C’an Picafort. You can hardly miss the figures because they are pretty large.
These are the precise locations of El Deseo, El Ritual, El Tesoro, and La Herida.
Tip 8 – For the daredevils: cliff jumping
This tip is not suitable for me at all, because: fear of heights. But if you are tougher than me, a cliff-jumping tour from C’an Picafort is very suitable for those looking for an adrenaline rush. You’ll set off with a guide who will make sure you jump off the cliffs safely, and luckily you’ll also be given a not-so-fashionable but very-safe helmet. So book your cliff jumping adventure here.
Tip 9 – Visit Necropolis Son Real near C’an Picafort
A necropolis is an old cemetery. And the necropolis of Son Real is beautifully situated by the sea. Now, you may not be super interested in the ruins, but the walk to it is supposed to be beautiful. And who knows, you might even encounter peacocks and turtles on the route. It’s free to visit. This is the Google Maps location.
Tip 10 – Find nature in the S’Albufera Natural Park
Since dogs are not allowed in the S’Albufera Natural Park, I skipped this tip. But I would have loved to visit this park near C’an Picafort. It is a varied area to explore, with many waterbirds. On the Komoot app, you will find several walking routes. Or rent a bike because there are decent cycle paths too.
Tip 11 – Rent a private boat, go fishing, or spot dolphins
If you’re a little jealous looking at the boats in the harbor of C’an Picafort, why not rent a boat yourself? Here you can rent one for half a day, including lunch. Or join a deep-sea fishing tour: it will keep you busy for a whole day. Book the fishing and boat excursion.
Not far from C’an Picafort, you can also join a catamaran excursion to spot dolphins. You leave early in the morning to have the best chance of seeing dolphins. Book the tour.
