Portals Nous is for the rich and famous. In the harbor of Puerto Portals, you’ll find the most expensive yachts and motorboats. However, the main attraction in Puerto Portals and Portals Nous is you: people-watching is the number one holiday activity here.

Holidaying in Portals Nous

What is Portals Nous like? Well, you can enjoy a luxury holiday in Portals Nous, provided you bring your wallet, of course. Luxury resorts, a chic marina, and two beaches within walking distance. Cala Portals Nous (also called Platja de S’oratori) and Cala Bendinat are not the prettiest beaches in Mallorca, but good enough for a day of tanning if you’re staying nearby anyway. Cala Portals Nous is especially popular because it is easily accessible and the water sports offer: anything from jet skiing to SUPing.

Accommodation in Portals Nous

Portals Nous does not really have a center; there is one main street with a handful of shops and restaurants. In the area, you will also find several resorts. Actually, Portals Nous has the largest concentration of 5-star hotels in Mallorca, such as the Portals Hills Boutique Hotel and a hotel of the Iberostar chain. Fun fact: they have a Naughty Suite at Iberostar.

Chic boats and designer shops in Puerto Portals

Puerto Portals is said to be the most beautiful port in Mallorca. And I have to say, all those boats are pretty impressive. But I also have to say that I don’t like it at all. There is a typical pedestrian boulevard (beautifully laid out) with shops and cafes, exactly like the ones you find in many other seaside resorts. Thirteen in a dozen, it makes me feel like I’m NOT in Mallorca.

Nevertheless, the harbor attracts tourists, and many wealthy English and Germans have bought a house here. It is also lively out of season. No idea if that means it’s ridiculously busy in the summer months. Probably. That’s also when you can visit the Sunset Market on the promenade in the evening, and in mid-August, there is a lot of entertainment: from sports competitions to concerts. Both Puerto Portals and Portals Nous participate in these festivities.

Beautiful beach clubs in Portals Nous

The most beautiful beach clubs of Portals Nous are Roxy Beach, UM Chambao Portals, and Lila Portals. I visit UM Chambao Portal (or simply: UM Beach House) and immediately feel the Ibiza vibes. You will find these beach clubs much more on Ibiza than on Mallorca. Hip decor, young service staff, a DJ who cares for the beats, and nice lounge areas by a swimming pool.

The menu prices are on the pricy side, but the food is delicious, the view fantastic, and the service friendly.

Parking in Portals Nous and Puerto Portals

For a parking spot in Puerto Portals, you drive through a gate into the harbor area to find paid parking spots. Or park for free between the main road and the coastline; there is a long strip of parking spaces. Try, for example, near Um Beach House (Google Maps) or Marineland Mallorca (Google Maps). This is also a free parking space in Portals Nous.

Puerto Portals and Portals Nous: visit or skip?

In my opinion, Puerto Portals and Portals Nous are nice to see for two hours. There is not that much to do. Walk around, have a coffee, and leave. It’s simply not that charming to me. I prefer to visit the villages where I feel like I’m actually in Spain. And I don’t know much about boats anyway either.
