Have you seen all of Hamburg’s sights? Time to sleep! Of course, you want to pick the best place to stay for your city trip to Hamburg. These are my recommendations for hotels and hostels in Hamburg.

Where to stay in Hamburg? If you want to spend the night in the middle of the more alternative part of Hamburg and close to the nightlife, look for a hotel in the St. Pauli district. If you are looking for a quieter and more industrial environment, HafenCity is the place to be. In my experience, hotels in Hamburg are costly, so if you find a good deal, book it immediately!

Stay in Hamburg St. Pauli – Adina Apartment

Adina Apartment Hotel is in the St Pauli district. For 1 night you pay about €160. Although the decor is a bit safe, I am pretty impressed with the rooms, or rather: apartments. Spacious and fully equipped. Adina Apartment Hotel also has a swimming pool, sauna, and fitness room that we gratefully use to recover from a night out on the Reeperbahn.

Stay in Hamburg St. Pauli – Superbude Hotel

Hostel The Superbude Hotel and Hostel in St. Pauli is a fairly new accommodation in Hamburg. It is cheerfully decorated with lots of yellow details and many recycled materials. The cheapest room costs €65. If you ask me, Superbude is more of a hotel than a hostel because you can’t book a bed in a dormitory. There are dormitories, but you only book them in one go with your group. With a six-person room, you will spend around €25 to €30 per person per night. But there is a real hostel vibe in the common areas, by the way. Plenty of comfy seats and many people also open their laptops to get some work done. The breakfast is good, and you can even make waffles.

Stay in Hamburg HafenCity – 25Hours Hotel HafenCity

The design of the 25Hours Hotel HafenCity is inspired by the maritime character of Hamburg. There are references to sailors, boats, and world travel throughout the hotel. There are several nicely decorated common areas, such as the vinyl room, where you can play records. And if you like, you can enjoy the sauna on the top floor with a view over the harbor area. The hotel has many rooms, and the prices start from around € 160. The restaurant where you have breakfast is also a good option in the evening.

Stay in Hamburg Altona – Superbude Hotel Hostel Altona

You will also find one of the Superbude locations in the Altona district. Altona is a quiet neighborhood, and the center of Altona, with shops and restaurants, is about a twenty-minute walk from the hotel/hostel. A bus stops near Superbude that takes you straight into the center. The Superbude Hotel Hostel Altona is rather… eclectic. And I love it! A throne with pink parrots, neon palm trees, and mega smileys. There’s a lot to see, The beds are comfortable, and you can make your own waffles at breakfast, just like at the other Superbude locations. An excellent place to stay in Hamburg!

Stay in HafenCity – 25Hours Hotel Altes Hafenamt

Do you want to spend a night in luxury? Then stay in 25Hours Hotel Altes Hafenamt. A beautiful hotel in a characteristic building that used to serve as the harbor master’s office. You easily pay €175, and that’s actually a good deal already. The rooms are darkly decorated and therefore have a very luxurious appearance. The breakfast (not always included in the price) is excellent: the champagne flows freely, the choice is enormous, and the service is super punctual and efficient. I highly recommend this hotel if you want to spoil yourself in Hamburg.
